Terms of Service for Shoup Woodworks, Houston, TX

Welcome to Shoup Woodworks, a custom woodworking shop owned by Michael Shoup and located in Houston, Texas. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our website at shoupwoodworks.com (the "Site") and your purchase of our custom furniture, cutting boards, games, and other handcrafted wood products.

By using the Site or placing an order, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Custom Orders and Quotes

Shoup Woodworks builds custom handcrafted furniture and wood products to order.

• Quotes: Quotes are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.
• Natural wood: Wood is a natural material. Variations in grain, color, and texture are expected and are not defects.
• Timeline: Build times are estimates. We work hard to meet agreed dates but are not responsible for delays caused by material shortages, weather, or carriers.
• Design changes: Changes requested after work begins may affect the price and completion date.

2. Payments

• Accepted payment: We accept Zelle or cash only. We do not accept or store credit card information.
• Deposits: Custom orders typically require a non-refundable deposit before work begins, because materials are purchased and cut for your specific piece.
• Balance: The remaining balance is due at pickup or delivery unless otherwise agreed in writing.
• Pricing: Prices may change without notice, but the price in an accepted quote will be honored for the life of that quote.

3. Pickup, Delivery, and Shipping

Pickup, local delivery in the Houston area, or shipping arrangements are agreed on when you place your order.

• Risk of loss: For pickup or local delivery, ownership and risk of loss pass to you when the item is handed over. For shipped items, they pass to you when the item is delivered to the carrier.
• Inspection: Please inspect your item when you receive it and report any damage within 48 hours.

4. Care of Your Piece

Solid wood responds to its environment. Shoup Woodworks is not responsible for damage caused by misuse, standing water, excessive moisture, heat, direct sunlight, or improper cleaning. Cutting boards should be hand washed and oiled regularly, and never put in the dishwasher.

5. Intellectual Property

The Site and its content, including designs, photos of our builds, and text, belong to Shoup Woodworks. You may not use our images or designs without written permission. We may photograph finished pieces and share them on the Site and social media without identifying the customer, unless you ask us not to.

6. Use of the Site

When using the Site, you agree not to:

• Use the Site for any unlawful purpose.
• Interfere with the proper working of the Site.
• Copy or reproduce our designs for commercial gain without permission.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Shoup Woodworks is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site or our products. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid for the product involved.

8. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of Harris County, Texas.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time by posting the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continuing to use the Site after changes are posted means you accept them. See also our Privacy Policy.
